CHIMPANZEE AT THE BALLET.

Arabella the chimp went to a special ballet concert. Her best friend Tim went along too because he loved ballet. It was held at the school hall at the Chimpanzee Primary School. Arabella was ready for the concert to start, but was feeling sad because the chimps were messing around and making a lot of noise. The concert people were getting cross because they were ready to start. Tim had a good idea, he asked Mr Campbell to get the naughty chimps to be quiet so that the concert could start. Mr Campbell said,"Ou, naughty chimps if you don't quieten down you will have to do yard duty with Mr Bannan and Janene" Now it was quiet, the dancers started to dance but Ella, one of the dancers was doing the splits and she sprained her ankle. "Oh goodness me!" cried Arabella.Milly and Sophia went and helped Ella off the stage and put an ice pack on her ankle. Tim said to Arabella, "Can you help Ella and dance for her?"
"I'm so excited,I've burst my buttons, I would love to dance!" said Arabella. Next they had to find a tutu and some runners. Arabella very quickly got dressed, she was about to go on stage when Tim said"Wait, here is a nice white bow for you to wear."
'Awesome" said Arabella and went and danced. When the audience saw Arabella, they clapped very, very, very loudly and called out "Ooo oo". Arabella curtsied. She was so happy!

PLAYING FIRST TO 120

Today we played FIRST TO 120. We played on a 120 number chart and rolled a 10 sided die. We moved our counter that number of places. If we rolled a 5 we had to go backwards by 5. In this game we were practising our adding on skills. For example, if we were on 76 and rolled an 8, instead of counting forwards by ones, we thought in our heads "What is 76+8?" and moved our counter to that spot (84). We had to land exactly on 120 to win. Birthday Boy Sam was the first to 120 in his game.

literacy at work

Throughout the year we have been working in four Literacy Groups. Each group has a 'communicator' who leads the group. We take it in turns being the communicator. When we read a text we discuss what we have read and share our ideas. We are becoming better listeners when others are talking to us.
Here we are sharing what we have read and discussed with the class.Sometimes we sing a short jingle about an adversiement. The focus of our literacy groups was how advertising is used to persuade people to buy things, even though they might not need them. Advertisers use pictures, headings, colours and and interesting adjectives to get our attention to read about and want the product.

Pull Along Vehicles

Have wheels will travel is the result of planning and designing a pull alomg vehicle. We worked in pairs to design a pull along vehicle, From the plans and drawings we made a list of materials which we needed to build the vehicle. We used recycled materials for our constructions such as wood, plastic bottles, aluminium cans, icy-pole sticks (new), lid tops, tissue boxes, cardboard, nylon mesh, skewers (new) and cupboard hinges. To join the various bits and pieces together we used glue, nails, wire and screws. After completion of the building of our vehicles we painted and decorated them. Now we can play with them.
